Kathy McCourt

Kathy McCourt
Kathy McCourt started her pottery career as a hobbyist, but with her incredible talents, she was soon asked by a local studio to teach 4 evenings and a full day class. It wasn’t long before she became a full time employee working in sales, book work and still teaching most of the classes. Also, during this time, as a Ceramic Shop on Wheels (might she have been the first Mobile Paint Your Own Pottery Studio?!), she taught Senior Citizens for 6 years for a Junior Technical college and three senior apartment sites.
Kathy is certified in many aspects of ceramics and pottery and has attended many classes and training sessions including the industry famous CAI taught by Ming. In 1991, Mayco Colors approached her to travel teach for them. From travel teaching she went on to sales for Mayco representing them at various trade shows. She has traveled worldwide for Mayco including Europe and Canada.
When the Paint Your Own Pottery segment of the industry appeared, Kathy began consulting new studios assisting with product education, kiln operations and staff training. She has trained studios throughout the east coast and mid-west. For the past 28 years, she has been the Technical Advisor at Mayco Colors.
Kathy McCourt graduated from the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth with a BA in Psychology and a double major in Elementary Education and has also taken many graduate courses.
Her wonderful and bubbling personality is such a bonus along with all that massive knowledge. We are so fortunate to have her on our team at The Pottery Consultant. Kathy is available, as an add-on option to your consulting package, to come to your studio and work hands-on with you helping with painting techniques, dipping, loading and firing your kiln and some of your daily and staff operations. You will love her as much as we do!
