Due to the pandemic and many PYOP studios across the country ordered to shut down, our industry, like all small businesses across the U.S., has lost about 25% of our studios. Yes, many have survived and a few even prospered. Either they were in states that did not order them to completely shutdown and/or due to entrepreneurial ‘can do’ spirits, they created pottery to go, canvas or clay to go, worked with organizations, created on line shopping and curbside pick ups, rearranged their layouts with dividers or other social distancing measures, worked out deals with their landlords, received grants and PPP’s, to name a few.
....BUT!! They are BACK! And doing better than ever, growing and prospering. Everyone has learned a lot during the past two years - and have incorporated that knowledge into making their studios more versatile, more adaptive and more unique and creative than ever. A few converted to mobile only studios, but even the strong storefronts learned adding mobile and to-go made their businesses better.
